APRIL

  • April 23 - Ladybug Girl Event At The Hornell Library Ladybug Girl will be visiting the Hornell library to help promote the Hornell libraries 1000 books before kindergarten program. Ladybug Girl will be handing out FREE books and ladybug tattoos to all children in attendance. A snack will also be provided to take home. The fun begins at 10:30am on Monday April 23, 2018 and will take place in the Hornell libraries children’s stage on the first floor.   • April 28- Greg Norton Memorial Park Benefit Blow-Out- 11am-4pm- Join us for a fun day in the park and in and around Almond as we raise money for the Greg Norton Memorial Park renovation. Location: Next to Mullen’s Carpet, Main St. GPS address: 5 School St. Almond, NY. If you are interested in participating as a vendor, email curranla6@gmail.com for more information.

  • May 5 - Wildflower Arts & Crafts Festival 10am-3pm happening at 1 Steuben Sq, Hornell. Help Hornell welcome spring with a family friendly arts & crafts festival! Arts, crafts, vendors, and businesses alike will be onsite for this spring event! Located in front of Steuben Trust, 1 Steuben Sq. Hornell, NY in the green lot. Free Admission - Live Music: 10am-12pm DiAnza Macool, 12pm-3pm Meat Cutters Union We will be partnering with catholic charities of Steuben county this year as the location to sign up for their annual S.T.E.P Walk!   • May 6 - Hornell Bible Church Teacher Appreciation Sunday on May 6, 2018 at 11am. We want to warmly invite all teachers and educators! 1 Main St. Hornell, NY (607)324-1334
  • May 10-12 - “Always a Bridesmaid” hosted by Hornell community theatre at the Hornell Community Arts Center. It’s the perfect show for Mothers Day! Hornell Community Theatre presents “Always a Bridesmaid”, written by Jones Hope Wooten Playwrights! It is a hilarious comedy in which 4 friends pledge to keep a childhood promise to be in each others weddings- no matter what! The talented cast includes, Gracie Dreher, Vicky Hoffman, Faith Piatt, Lisa Fischer, Caroline Bodin, and Katie Robinson all under the direction of Penny Smith. Performances are May 10-12 at 7pm, with a Saturday matinee at 2pm, tickets are $10 and will be available at the door.
  • May 12 - "True Stories of Being Laid to Rest" at Hornell Public Library - Step into the world of funeral service of which little has been written about over the last few decades. Undertakings of an undertaker stories are true as they really happened with no embellishment and nothing left out. There are some intriguing, funny and unusual stories to be found in undertakings of an undertaker. A book you’ll want to share for sure. Author, Stanley Swan spent 37 years in funeral service and spent many years living and working in the southern tier of New York. The intrigue starts at 1pm on Saturday, May 12th at the Hornell Public Library. Mr. Stanley will have books to purchase and admission is free.
  • May 19 - Spring Into Wellness at the Hornell Community Arts Center, 11am-4pm, Direct Sales Show! Come down and shop your favorite direct sales products and learn about new ones!   • May 19 - Hornell Area Arts Council Arts Fair and Juried Show Event date: May 19th, 11a till 6pm Lot location: 7580 Seneca Rd N, Hornell, NY 14843 Spaces will be approximately 14’x14’ $1,000 in cash and prizes to be awarded to “Best in show” (categories to be determined) Entry fee: $35 must be received by May 1st, and paid in full with completed returned application. Application and admission requirements: Applicant must provide at least 3 images. Tactile images may be delivered with application. Website or social media URL or link may be written on your application (please type your link/ address after it’s written to ensure accuracy, if we can’t get to your page or website your application may be denied). Application must be received by May 1st 2018 (see contact info above). Admission requirements: Artwork must be handmade fine art such as Pottery, Paintings, Carvings, Photography, Mixed Media etc. Reproductions of your work are acceptable along side of your original work. Turn key style resale items will not be acceptable for this event. Artwork should be “family friendly” (if you’re not sure about a piece ask an HAAC representative before you display it. Partial and or tasteful nudity can be acceptable depending on context and type of display).
  • May 26-28 - Team Griff 5k walk/run at Canaseraga Village Park, will be Live music, and Concession stand Make Parkinson’s a walk in the park. May 27 - Car show and Vendor/Craft fair will be Concession stand. Monday, May 28, 2018: Chicken BBQ at the Canaseraga Fire Hall after the parade - Proceeds Support: Hornell Area Parkinson’s support group & Team Griff on behalf of Parkinson’s Foundation.
  • May TBA - : The Hornell Kiwanis Club's Annual Maple City Kid's Quarter Miler is the Saturday at Maple City Park! St. James Health Fair starts at 9am in the A-Gym with $5 Registration for the Quarter Miler starting at 9:30am. The races begin at 11am.
  • May TBA - The 7th District Sons Of The American Legion Annual Flag Education & Retirement Ceremony - Hosted by the Arthur H. Cunningham Post #440 Hornell, Event will be held on the grassy area in front of Steuben Trust (GPS 1 Steuben Sq, Hornell NY). This event takes place at Noon
  • May TBA - Memorial Day parade hosted by the Hornell American Legion will start at 9:30am, from the east end of main st, ending at the broadway mall for the service.

JUNE

  • June 1 - 2018 Hornell Dodgers Season Opener - Check out the 2018 Dodgers as they open up the defense of the NYCBL Championship. Special Pregame Ceremony honoring the 2017 Championship Team. 7pm-10pm at Maple City Park
  • June 2/3 - The Battle of Lain’s Mill at Lain's Cider Mill - Come see how people and soldiers lived during the Civil War. A battle each day and demonstrations and discussions. Food is available on site so you can make a day out of it!

  • June 14 - Flag Day, June 14, at 7 pm, the Hornell Legion, AMVETS, VFW, & Elks will hold the annual Flag Burning/disposal ceremony on the Broadway Mall. You can bring your unservicable flags to the ceremony.

  • June 23 - CHALK A MILE 2018 - Sat., June 23 10am-2pm - FREE EVENT - 2018 Theme: Under the Sea Live Music: 10am-12pm Ralph Berardi, 12pm-2pm Great Balls of Fire. “Chalk A Mile” is a no cost event in the heart of Downtown Hornell, hosted by Hornell Partners for Growth. An entire city mile is transformed into a colorful playground with more sidewalk chalk than anyone could dream of. Kids of all ages will have the chance to participate and leave their mark, albeit temporarily, in the city creating whatever their imagination can come up with, while drawing, learning and watching over the shoulders of local and professional artists! Additional Details: ***Please feel free to bring your own chalk and sidewalk paint however we will give free chalk while supplies last. We will also have tempera paint to use as a base / frame for your art work. The event will conclude at 1:30pm for judging purposes, however, anyone drawing is welcome to continue to do so. Festivities at Veterans Memorial Park, At James Street. NOON - PARADE: HPG and the City of Hornell will be hosting the parade July 4th at Noon ******PARADE ROUTE CHANGE DUE TO CONSTRUCTION:  Line up at 11:30am at the former Hot Dog Palace (176 Seneca St) parade to proceed south down Seneca St, ending at the Burger King parking lot ******** --We're excited to announce that the Shriners will be returning to the Hornell 4th of July parade again this year! This also means that HPG will be requesting an ordinance for no parking on Main St during this parade which is happening Tuesday July 4th at Noon.

    • Nov TBA - 2018 Veterans Day Field of Honor - St. Ann’s Academy, located in Hornell, is proud to host the annual Field of Honor flag event paying tribute to our veterans and service men and women with a moving display of American flags. This amazing patriotic display will consist of hundreds of American flags flying atop 8-foot poles on a field of green located at One Steuben Square Dates: TBA. Our Veteran’s Day Field of Honor display will pay tribute to local members of our armed forces (past and present) and also recognize men and women in our community who devote their lives to serving others.
